A 40-year-old policeman was killed while driving for a ride-hailing app in Ingeniero Budge, after being attacked by armed assailants. Despite a shootout, he succumbed to his injuries.


Policeman Killed During App-Driving Incident

A 40-year-old police officer was murdered by a passenger while working as a driver for an application, after fulfilling his duties as an officer in the Buenos Aires locality of Ingeniero Budge. The tragic incident took place on Thursday morning when the sergeant was working with his Chevrolet Corsa vehicle and transported a passenger to the corner of Blandengues and Homero Bis in that locality.

Upon arriving at the destination, two armed individuals were waiting for him, attempting to rob the officer. In an act of defense, the sergeant drew his service weapon and engaged in a shootout with the criminals. As a result, one of the criminals was injured in the abdomen and shoulder, while the police officer was only hit in the abdomen.

The neighbors, noticing the situation, alerted the authorities by calling 911 to request medical and police assistance at the scene. Despite being taken to Allende Hospital, they unfortunately could not save his life, and his death was declared. Subsequently, the officer's vehicle was left at the scene awaiting the intervention of the Scientific Police.

The officer's service weapon was seized, and the UFI 6 of Lomas de Zamora will investigate the case to clarify what happened. The funeral service will take place at the Casa Lázaro Costa funeral home, located at F. Portela 461 in Lomas de Zamora, although the time for the ceremony has not yet been confirmed.
